Marketing, Marketing, Marketing

Met with the program chair and our communications chair yesterday at Starbucks. Over good cafe lattes, we discussed RAMA and marketing and life in general. The way women do. Coffee

Our marketing discussion centered on plans for events in Rochester this calendar year. We have a great Sports Panel scheduled for October (details to come later) and Seth Godin in November - be there or be square - check out his post on Tweaking! And, we mused over a holiday event in December that would give back to the community.

All in all, RAMA is poised to add electricty to Power Marketing! The new board is full of energy and talent. I'm in awe of our president and president-elect - two outstanding professionals who are committed to excellence. The women on the board are strong contenders for entrepreneurs of the year, too! Whether they're part of a 'bigger' company, or solopreneurs, they're bringing great ideas and focused attention to the RAMA chapter.

I will have bios and overviews of each board member going forward. Check in to learn more about who's pulling the reigns for your Chapter. And remember we're eager for your ideas and input, too. Leave a comment!

See you next week at Marios.

September Event: TRUTH

September 27th, Inspire/Unite: Co-host with PRSA

The American Marketing Association is pleased to present:

The truth behind truth®.

The American Legacy Foundation's edgy, hard-hitting, unapologetic,
award-wining advertising, grassroots, and online campaign to prevent youth smoking.

By telling the truth about the tobacco industry and its products and exposing their marketing tactics, truth® allows teens to make informed choices about tobacco use. It doesn`t preach. It doesn`t judge. It just works.

Find out why. Join RAMA and PRSA as we welcome Tricia McLaughlin and Nicole Dorrier of ALF as they share the truth about the truth® campaign.

Wednesday September 27 from 11:30 -1: 30 at

The New Blog Year Begins

It's a new year at RAMA. Rochester is gearing up for great things. We have a new Board - look for changes in our sidebar - and a continuing focus on Power Marketing. The most exciting thing happening in our area is that we're up for Chapter of the Year! We sent out our paperwork more than a week ago.

Being up for Chapter of the Year is a huge accomplishment. Not only did RAMA increase membership dramatically - we outdid ourselves last year in our event planning, our event attendance, and our recognitions. Rochester knows we're here!

We are determined to keep this blog updated, so be sure to check back on a regular basis. Add us to your regular blog reading - watch for posts from other board members, and maybe even a guest blogger or two.

Don't forget to join in the conversation. We are here to serve the Greater NY marketing community. Our mission statement: "Rochester AMA is the premier organization for marketing, education, programming and networking among marketing professionals in the Greater Rochester, New York, area."

But wait - don't let it end there! We're willing to reach out to Syracuse and Buffalo, too. If you live in either of those metropolitan areas, please let us know how to serve you better. We can send you our quarterly newsletter, add you to our mailing list for announcements, and make sure you receive invites to our outstanding events.

This year - well, I don't want to get ahead of myself but...we have a BIG celebrity coming to Rochester to talk marketing. Yes, I mean BIG (and bald).

Stay tuned!
